Give Back Using Your Gift: Sing For Charity

It’s a beautiful time of year to celebrate life through music. Professional singers, artists, and musicians have gifts that they can share with the world during this season of giving; and there are many ways to give back with those talents for charity.

Sing for Hope is an organization where professional artists and singers can offer their time and talent for charity. Giving back to the community is a huge part of living a rewarding life; especially for artists, who often have a natural desire to give back. Artists have a special gift and knack for inspiring those who feel downtrodden by life. Music and art can motivate and encourage those who’s spirits are down and need a lift. This is especially important through the holiday season, as people begin to access the value of their lives and think about loved ones that have passed on. Singing and music can act as wings, lifting many people out of the depths of sadness and grief, giving hope.

Through Sing for Hope, artists are able to visit schools to perform and collaborate with the students to create personal and original music and works of art. Sing for Hope also offers programs for artists to visit hospitals and work with patients to create performances, as well as engage with patients’ families to encourage creativity and work on artistic projects together.

Volunteer Match is another great organization that offers opportunities for singers, musicians, and artists to volunteer and participate in giving back to their communities. Singers can teach, organize, and pose as ambassadors for the chorus through Volunteer Match. Through the Volunteer Match website, artists of all kinds can locate ways to put their gifts to good use by serving others through the holiday season and beyond.

Volunteering is contagious. When you begin to give back, others will take notice and want to experience the good feeling that giving to others can bring, too. During this holiday season, wouldn’t it be amazing if we all used our gifts and talents to serve the community in some way? Whether you can sing, play an instrument, or simply be there for someone in need; volunteering is just as rewarding to the giver as it is to those who receive your kindness. Let us all be willing participants in the giving season this year.
