At Sing Like a Star we don’t have a “one size fits all” approach to teaching singing. Each singer has unique giPs and challenges based on the habits. However singers do tend to fall into four basic categories or groups, based on registration balance.

If you are heavier in the lower register and lighter in the upper, your category is Unbalanced Pulled Lower. Most males and musical theater belt females fall into this category.

If you are lighter in the lower register and stronger in the upper register your category is Unbalanced- Light Lower. Many classically or chorally trained females are initially in this category. An image of a scale with the words undeveloped and lower register.

If you are weak and breathy in both lower and upper register your category is Undeveloped. Many young or untrained singers are in this category. If both registers are equally strong and your primo passaggio (first bridge) is smooth and connected, you are in the Balanced category. This is where we would ultimately like all singers to be.

At Sing Like a Star we diagnose and assess your voice to give you a specific lesson plan tailored to most effectively address your vocal category, and thus get the results you are looking for.
