Learn How to Sing- Vocal Development for Singers

I have realized in my teaching that students who want to learn how to sing might like to know that there is a “plan” for their vocal development, and that exercises that are given (by me, anyway) are not a “one size fits all” approach and are based on a path of vocal development that every singer will go through. To that end, I developed the Vocal Development Chart which helps singers get an idea of where they are in their vocal development in the path of learning how to sing.

Some go through these steps faster, and some slower, based on where they have studied before, their bad vocal habits, and the most important factor- how much they practice!  I tell my students “what you put in, is what you will get out of it!”

Below is the Vocal Development Chart I created.  At the bottom you will see that it says that these steps may be revisited many times in a “spiral learning” pattern of development- that means that every time a concept is re-visited, the student is functioning at a higher skill level.  These steps may be followed in one lesson by some students, or, more likely, will be a pattern of vocal development over time.

Enjoy!
